An alleged fraud involving government health schemes has come to light in Nashik, Maharashtra. It is alleged that three hospitals showed treatment in the names of 22 patients who had died six years ago and made claims of nearly Rs 2 crore under government schemes. A case has been registered at Worli police station in Mumbai against the operators of the three hospitals.

Alleged fraud in the name of Ayushman Bharat and Jan Arogya Yojana

According to preliminary information, the alleged irregularities are linked to claims made under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. The investigation identified cases in which treatment expenses were shown in the names of people who had already died. It is alleged that government funds were obtained through these claims.

Suspicious claims found during investigation

During an inquiry into claims under government health schemes in Maharashtra, officials verified beneficiary details and treatment records. According to officials, a large number of claims in Nashik district were examined, and several were found to be suspicious. Police action was then initiated in the related cases.
