CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India ePress / ITDC News Bhopal: The 48th National Arm Wrestling Championship 2026, organised by the Arm Wrestling Association Madhya Pradesh at LNCT University on Kolar Road in Bhopal, got off to a grand start. Players from various states across the country are showcasing their talent at the event.
Anand Prasad Sharma, Secretary, Arm Wrestling Association Madhya Pradesh, said around 250 players and officials from 12 states are participating in the national competition. The participating states include Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Manipur, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
Competitions are being held in the sub-junior, junior, youth, senior, master and para categories, with players competing for national titles.
Guests present at the उद्घाटन ceremony included Ranvir Singh Farmer, former president of the Indian Wrestling Federation; Dr. B.P. Singh, General Secretary, Indian Arm Wrestling Federation of India; Anupam Chouksey, Chancellor, JNCT Professional University; Dr. N.K. Thapak, Vice Chancellor, LNCT University; and Pankaj Jain, Sports Director, LNCT Group. All the guests inaugurated the championship by lighting the ceremonial lamp and encouraged the players to uphold sportsmanship, discipline and excellence.
In their addresses, the guests said national-level competitions provide an excellent opportunity for players to showcase their talent and play an important role in the development of arm wrestling in the country. They urged the participants to compete in the true spirit of the game and bring glory to the state and the nation.
Thrilling contests in various age and weight categories will be held during the championship, where talented players from across the country will battle for national titles. The organising committee welcomed all players, coaches, technical officials and representatives and expressed confidence in the successful conduct of the event.
