CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the second day of the four-day National Art Festival 2024-25, organized by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) at the Regional Institute of Education and Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education in Bhopal, various competitions were held. The festival aims to encourage the artistic talent of school children across the country and provide them with a national platform.
Participants from 18 states competed in categories such as music (vocal and instrumental), dance, theater, visual arts, and traditional storytelling. The newly introduced storytelling category featured historical and folk tales, including the Draupadi Chirharan story from Sikkim, Danveer Karna from Uttar Pradesh, and the Raima Saima folk tale from Tripura.
Dance performances captivated audiences with Arunachal Pradesh’s Popir, Assam’s Bihu, Chhattisgarh’s Mandari, and Madhya Pradesh’s Norta folk dances. Classical dances like Bharatanatyam and Kathak also enchanted the audience.
Instrumental music competitions showcased tabla, sarod, flute, and sitar alongside traditional instruments. Performances included Nicobarese tribal folk music, group singing, and Tamil Nattupurapattu, highlighting the participants’ creativity.
In theater, Delhi presented a play based on the life of Amrita Pritam, while Ladakh and Puducherry showcased performances inspired by societal and historical themes.
Participants impressed the jury with their creativity. The evening concluded with mesmerizing performances by renowned artists in Kathak, Manipuri dance, and Manipuri Nat Sankirtana.
The festival will conclude with the Governor of Madhya Pradesh presenting awards to the winners.
