CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of Electronic Media at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication celebrated the 98th National Broadcasting Day with students. On this occasion, a documentary on the first broadcast of All India Radio was screened. Additionally, students presented short films under the “Local for Vocal” category focusing on Indian knowledge traditions, including folk art, folklore, traditional knowledge, home remedies, and oral traditions.
Head of Department, Professor Monika Verma, announced the winners of the best short films.
First prize was awarded to Sudarshan Singh for his film on the traditional method of rice plantation.
Second prize went to Ayush Singh for his film on the handcrafting process of bamboo fans.
Third prize was awarded to Abhishek Dehriya for his short film centered on the culture and folk songs of Bihar.

On this occasion, Professor Monika Verma stated that since its inception, All India Radio has played a vital role in disseminating Indian culture, education, and moral values to the masses. It possesses the remarkable ability to unify the nation and acts as a crucial link between citizens and government schemes.
Associate Professor Sanjeev Gupta elaborated on the growth journey of radio and highlighted the vast career opportunities in this field. He encouraged students to engage with All India Radio, community radio, podcasts, and new radio platforms, and to continue moving forward with creative endeavors.
Producer Ramdeen Tyagi remarked that by sharing his thoughts through “Mann Ki Baat”, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed the authenticity and commitment of radio. He emphasized that radio is a powerful medium of communication that also strengthens languages and dialects.
The event was attended by Department Coordinator Mukesh Chaurasiya, Assistant Professor Rahul Khadia, Producer Manoj Patel, Tutor Alok Asthana, and students from various classes of the Electronic Media Department.
