CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A meeting of the “Indian Knowledge Tradition Apex Committee” under the Department of Higher Education was held in the conference hall of Sarojini Naidu Government Girls’ Postgraduate Autonomous College, Bhopal. The meeting was conducted in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, during which various topics were discussed in detail, and important directives were issued.
Instructions were given to conduct timely workshops across 10 divisions of the state in light of Ordinance 14(1) and 14(2), to widely inform students and faculty about these ordinances. Directives were also issued to organize workshops in 27 universities of the state to incorporate Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) into the undergraduate second- and third-year curricula. It was also decided to organize workshops specifically for all IKS cell heads across universities.
A roadmap was proposed to promote teaching in Indian languages across all universities and link this initiative with students’ academic credit evaluations. In line with NEP 2020, a proposal was made to offer a “Best Author Award” for excellent academic book writing in the fields of arts, commerce, and science, to be published by MP Hindi Granth Academy.

The meeting also deliberated on a quarterly calendar of events to be organized in colleges based on Indian Knowledge Systems. Additional discussions included curriculum development, book writing, manuscript review, a two-day state-level workshop, and the planning of academic and cultural activities.
Jointly led by the Department of Higher Education and MP Hindi Granth Academy, plans were discussed to organize the “Gyan Bodh Competition” based on general knowledge and IKS, hold meetings of teachers knowledgeable in Indian knowledge traditions, and conduct an annual symposium at the end of each academic year.
Updates were shared on the outcomes of a two-day workshop aimed at evaluating the academic quality of manuscripts for subjects identified for the first year of undergraduate courses under NEP 2020. Over 200 academicians from across the state and country participated in this workshop.
The meeting was attended by Atul Kothari, Vice Chairman of the Apex Committee and Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi; Ashok Kadel, Director of MP Hindi Granth Academy; Ravindra Kanhere, Chairman of the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee; as well as Vice Chancellors from various universities, members of the Apex Committee, academic experts, and officials from the Higher Education Department.
