CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of National Mathematics Day, Anchal Vigyan Kendra, Bhopal organized various mathematics-based programs for students, teachers, and the general public. The objective of this event was to present mathematics in an interesting, practical, and enjoyable manner and to highlight its usefulness in daily life.
On this occasion, the following programs were organized:
- 3×3 Rubik’s Cube Solving Competition
With the aim of developing logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of mathematical concepts among students, as well as introducing them to the concept of sequencing, a 3×3 Rubik’s Cube Solving Competition was organized for students of Classes 5 to 7. A total of 53 students from various educational institutions of Bhopal participated enthusiastically in this competition.
- Hands-on Workshop on Creative Mathematics
To encourage creativity in mathematics and to familiarize students with interesting facts and patterns hidden behind numbers, a hands-on workshop on creative mathematics was organized. Fifty-five students from different institutions participated in this workshop.
- Mathemagic Demonstration
As part of the program, an engaging and participative “Mathemagic” demonstration was also organized, in which mathematical principles were presented in an entertaining manner through puzzles and activity-based presentations. Nearly 200 students and teachers from various institutions in Bhopal attended this demonstration.
In addition, to enhance visitors’ interest in mathematics, a selfie stand was set up where visitors could take photographs with the images of renowned mathematicians Srinivasa Ramanujan and G. H. Hardy against the backdrop of their famous discovery, the Taxi-Cab Number. A game zone was also established, where students and teachers enthusiastically participated in snakes-and-ladders-based mathematical games.
The main objective of this event was to highlight the relevance and usefulness of mathematics in daily life, encourage analytical thinking, creativity, and innovation among students, and eliminate the fear associated with the subject of mathematics.
