CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Mathematics Day 2024 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at CM Rise Government Mahatma Gandhi Higher Secondary School, BHEL, Bhopal, under the sponsorship of the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology. The event marked the birth anniversary of the great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. It was organized under the guidance of Principal Hemlata Parihar and coordinated by mathematics teacher Hemant Kumar Dubey.
The two-day celebration featured activities like rangoli, painting, quizzes, and model exhibitions, offering students an opportunity to showcase their creativity and mathematical skills.
The program began with a rangoli competition where students beautifully presented geometric shapes and mathematical equations using vibrant colors. This was followed by a painting competition in which students created creative artworks related to mathematics.
On the second day, a quiz based on mathematics was organized. Students demonstrated their knowledge by answering mathematical questions with speed and accuracy. The quiz encouraged logical reasoning and mathematical thinking among the participants.
Additionally, a mathematical model and chart exhibition saw students explaining various mathematical concepts in simple and effective ways, which were widely appreciated. A film on Srinivasa Ramanujan’s life and work was also screened, giving students deeper insights into his contributions and achievements.
The chief guest, Assistant Professor Anup Rathore from Pt. Sundarlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal, highlighted Ramanujan’s extraordinary mathematical achievements and inspired students by discussing modern tools like AI and ChatGPT. Dr. Rathore remarked, “Mathematics is not just a subject; it is interconnected with every aspect of life. Srinivasa Ramanujan’s dedication teaches us that no barrier can limit our potential.”
Principal Hemlata Parihar motivated students to overcome their fear of mathematics and make it an enjoyable subject, emphasizing its role in enhancing logical skills and its application in all areas of life. Mathematics teacher Hemant Kumar Dubey described math as the “foundation of all subjects” and shed light on its practical applications, noting that mathematics is a medium to express ideas with simplicity and clarity.
The presence of Vice Principal P. Vijay Kumar added enthusiasm to the event, while co-coordinator Dr. Archana Shukla provided valuable support. The competitions concluded with participation certificates for all students and special awards for winners.
The program was successfully hosted by teacher Rekha Patidar, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Archana Shukla. The event was made memorable with the active involvement of all teachers, students, and staff.
The aim of this celebration was to inspire students to develop an interest in mathematics and understand that it is not limited to complex equations and numbers but fosters creativity and logical thinking.
