As part of its annual tradition, Bhabha University, Bhopal, is organizing a National Mathematics Week from December 23 to December 28, 2024. The event aims to foster interest in mathematics among students and is sponsored by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST), Bhopal, and the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), New Delhi.

The week-long celebrations will include activities such as quiz competitions, puzzles, rangoli, and poster-making contests. On December 26, 2024, expert lectures will focus on various branches of mathematics, featuring eminent speakers:

Bharat Sharan Singh, Chairperson, Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission, Bhopal.

Vikas Kumar Shinde, Chief Scientist, Madhya Pradesh Science and Technology, Bhopal.

Ramakant Bharadwaj, Head of Department, Amity University, Kolkata.

While providing details about the upcoming events, Dr. Shyam Patkar, Registrar of Bhabha University, stated that the objective of these celebrations is to raise awareness about the profound impact of mathematics on our daily lives. He further highlighted that National Mathematics Day, observed annually on December 22, commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Srinivasa Ramanujan, a mathematical genius whose resilience and talent remain an inspiration.

This day celebrates the significance of mathematics across various fields such as science, technology, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, finance, music, art, and crafts. It serves as a reminder of Ramanujan’s unparalleled contributions and the enduring importance of mathematics in shaping the modern world.
