CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Institute of Pharmacy at Rabindranath Tagore University celebrated National Pharmacy Week with great enthusiasm. The primary aim of the event was to raise awareness about the field of pharmacy and highlight the crucial role of pharmacists in society. Under this year’s theme, “Think Health, Think Pharmacy,” the importance of pharmacy was discussed, emphasizing the significant contribution of pharmacists to public health.

Key Guests and Discussions

Prominent guests included Girjesh Vishwakarma (Pharmacovigilance Associate, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Gandhi Medical College Bhopal), C.P. Mishra (Dean, AISECT Group of Universities), Padmesh Chaturvedi (OSD to Chairman, AISECT Group of Universities), and Durga Pandey (Principal, RNTU Institute of Pharmacy).

Girjesh Vishwakarma highlighted the importance of pharmacovigilance in monitoring the adverse effects of medicines. He emphasized the pharmacist’s role in ensuring the safe and effective use of drugs.

C.P. Mishra extended greetings on National Pharmacy Week and elaborated on the pharmacist’s role in healthcare, emphasizing that their responsibilities go beyond dispensing medicines to active participation in healthcare management.

Padmesh Chaturvedi discussed the objectives and significance of celebrating National Pharmacy Week, stressing the need to spread awareness about the pharmacist’s contributions across all sections of society.

Durga Pandey underlined the critical responsibilities of pharmacists in the healthcare sector, stating that they not only dispense medicines but also play a vital role in patient care. Highlighting this year’s theme, she remarked that pharmacists collaborate with other medical professionals to improve public health and described them as the “heart of the medical field.”

Activities and Competitions

The event included a variety of academic, cultural, and sports activities:

On the first day, a special session was organized, along with sports competitions like cricket and tug-of-war, where students participated enthusiastically.

On the second day, students showcased their talents in activities such as rangoli competitions, quiz contests, dance, singing, poetry recitation, best out of waste, and label design contests.

The event witnessed active participation from a large number of students and faculty members from the Institute of Pharmacy, making it a memorable celebration of the pharmacy profession and its contributions to society.
