On the second day of the Three-Day National Research Scholars’ Conclave, organized by the Dattopant Thengadi Research Institute in Bhopal, scholars shared their insights on Indian knowledge tradition and modern research.
Knowledge is Eternal, Evidence is Essential in Research: Prof. Nachiketa Tiwari
Nachiketa Tiwari, Director of IIT Kanpur, emphasized that knowledge is neither old nor new; it is eternal. He urged researchers to conduct studies from an Indian perspective, which would not only benefit India but also contribute to the welfare of the entire world.
Highlighting the uniqueness of Indian civilization, he stated that India is not united by language, religion, or race, but by knowledge. Citing the Mahabharata, he pointed out that Lord Krishna, after imparting the teachings of the Gita to Arjuna, encouraged him to think independently, which underscores the essence of originality in research.
Internet Protocol Will Influence Every Aspect of the Future
Professor Rita Soni from JNU discussed the impact of Internet Protocol (IP) in the future, stating that it will reach every molecule. Using Yoga as an example, she highlighted how India has shared this great tradition with the world without any cost.
AI Expanding Language and Translation
Director Utpal Chakraborty spoke on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI), emphasizing that its most meaningful application lies in language and translation. He noted that translation is not merely a linguistic conversion but a process of accurately presenting culture and context.
India’s Warfare Strategies Are a Vital Research Topic: Dr. Anil Kothari
Anil Kothari, Director General of MAPCOST, stated that India’s warfare strategies and weaponry traditions are significant subjects of research. He stressed the importance of embracing India’s glorious past to shape future research directions.
Research Should Aim to Understand History and Raise Social Awareness: Vijay Manohar Tiwari
Vijay Manohar Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, remarked that research should not be limited to discovering historical facts but should also raise awareness in society. He emphasized the need for in-depth research to understand and preserve India’s true heritage.
The Importance of Indian Folk Traditions and Philosophy
Swati Anand, a researcher from Chhattisgarh, highlighted that research is not just about collecting facts but about developing vision and philosophy. She asserted that any research is incomplete without understanding the context of Indian folk traditions and society.
