CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, a week-long series of programs is ongoing from 22nd to 28th February 2026 under the theme “Women in Science: Catalyzing a Developed India” as part of National Science Day 2026. The event is organized under the aegis of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM). National Science Day is celebrated every year on 28th February in memory of the discovery of the Raman Effect by C.V. Raman.

As part of the celebrations, the C.V. Raman Memorial Lecture titled “Active Matter: When Particles Come Alive” was successfully conducted. The lecture was delivered by Snigdha Thakur, Professor, Department of Archaeology, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal. During her lecture, she explained the concept of active matter, the collective behavior of microscopic particles, and recent research in contemporary physics using simple and engaging examples. The lecture proved to be highly informative and inspiring for students and teachers alike.

On the same occasion, a special science demonstration show titled “Science vs. Miracle” was organized. The program showcased the scientific principles behind so-called miracles through experiments, encouraging the students and general audience to develop a scientific perspective and logical thinking. The program sent a strong message promoting science-based understanding over superstitions.

As part of the week-long program, upcoming events will include Chemical Curiosity, Materials at Low Temperatures (Liquid Nitrogen Demonstrations), and Innovations at Low Pressure, among other engaging activities.

This series, organized by the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, is an important initiative aimed at strengthening scientific awareness, curiosity, and innovation among students, teachers, and the general public.
