CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of National Science Day 2026, a thematic program titled “The Utility and Importance of Hindi in Science – In the Context of Indian Knowledge Tradition” was organized at Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University.
The chief guest and keynote speaker of the program was Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, popularly known in India as the “Solar Man of India.” Prof. Solanki highlighted the pressing issues of climate change, global warming, and the excessive consumption of natural resources, creating awareness among students and attendees. He stated that nearly 25% of the global population is currently facing water scarcity and that the Earth’s temperature is likely to rise by 2 degrees Celsius over the next 25 years. He emphasized that climate change is a human-created problem and that the responsibility to resolve it also lies with people. During the event, he administered a pledge to students and participants to reduce consumption and encouraged them to join his public awareness campaign.

As the seed speaker, Ratan Suryavanshi discussed the importance of science and its role within the Indian knowledge tradition. He remarked that during the COVID-19 pandemic, India developed vaccines and served global humanity, demonstrating that science, tradition, and human welfare are interconnected.
Presiding over the program, Vice-Chancellor Milind Dandekar stated that the Indian knowledge tradition emphasized holistic study of subjects, and acquiring education through an integrated approach is the need of the present time. He stressed the importance of studying and conducting research in science through the mother tongue.
The event also included poetry recitation and a debate competition for students of special education. The program was organized by the Incubation Center of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University and was conducted by Bharati Sharma. University officials, faculty members, and students were present on the occasion.
The program effectively highlighted scientific awareness, environmental consciousness, and the significance of the Indian knowledge tradition.
