CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At the Regional Science Center, Bhopal, a week-long series of programs is being organized under the theme “Women in Science: Driving a Developed India” as part of National Science Day 2026, continuing until 28th February 2026. This event is being conducted under the auspices of the National Council of Science Museums. National Science Day is celebrated annually on 28th February in memory of C.V. Raman and his discovery of the Raman Effect.
The program began with safe telescope observations of sunspots and sky-watching activities. Demonstration shows on various types of fuels were also conducted, helping students understand the practical aspects of science.
Workshops and demonstrations were organized on the theme “Science Around Us.” A teacher training program was also conducted, introducing educators to simple and effective methods to make science classes engaging and enjoyable. In addition, a special sky observation program and guided tour of the science gallery were held.

A soap bubble workshop was conducted, where students explored scientific principles such as surface tension, light refraction, color formation, and minimal surface phenomena through soap bubbles in a fun and hands-on manner. Participants experienced a blend of science and creativity by performing experiments themselves.
In the coming days, on 25th February, a Sir C.V. Raman Memorial Lecture on the topic “Active Matter: When Particles Come Alive” will be held. Snigdha Thakur, Professor, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal, will introduce participants to contemporary physics and new dimensions of interdisciplinary science.
Additionally, demonstration shows such as “Science vs. Miracle,” “Chemical Curiosity,” “Matter at Low Temperatures (Liquid Nitrogen-Based Demonstrations),” and experiments under low pressure will be conducted.
Through this week-long event, the aim is to encourage scientific thinking, curiosity, and innovation among students, teachers, and the general public.
