CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The First Senior National Shootball Championship 2026-27 for men, women and mixed teams opened in a grand and enthusiastic manner at LNCT University.

Organised under the aegis of Shootball India (Registered), the national competition has participation from men’s, women’s and mixed-category teams from different states across the country. Players, coaches, managers and team representatives from 12 states, including Delhi, Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Karnataka, are taking part in the championship.

The competition was inaugurated in the presence of Ravi Singh, Founder, Shootball sport and Director, Shootball India; Vinay Kumar Bhati, Founder, Shootball sport; Naresh Kumar Sharma, Treasurer; Pankaj Kumar Jain, Sports Director, LNCT Group; and Dr P S Dara, HOD.

At the opening ceremony, the guests encouraged the players and welcomed participants who had arrived from across the country, motivating them to compete with excellence and sportsmanship. The formal opening of the national competition was then announced. Players present on the field pledged to take part with full enthusiasm, discipline and sporting spirit.

Speakers said the championship was an important step towards giving a new national identity to an indigenous sport such as shootball and providing players with a strong platform. The start of this national event from Bhopal and the LNCT University campus is being seen as a new beginning for the development and expansion of shootball.

Exciting contests will be held in all three categories – men’s, women’s and mixed – where players from various states will display their talent, skill, energy and sportsmanship. The organising committee said the objective of the national competition is to bring players from across the country onto one platform, take shootball to a wider level and give the indigenous sport national recognition.

This national sports festival, which began in Bhopal, is witnessing a new beginning in the development and expansion of shootball and the first strong step towards realising a larger dream. The participation of players from across the country has made the event a symbol of national unity, sportsmanship and dedication to indigenous sports.

The first match in the men’s category is being played between Maharashtra and Delhi under floodlights. At half-time, the score was 2-1 in favour of Delhi.
