CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The fifth National Spice Conference (NSC) 2026 concluded in Jaipur after two days of discussions focused on farmer empowerment, food safety, sustainability and market access across India’s spice value chain. The conference was organised by the World Spice Organisation (WSO) on September 19 and 20 at the Novotel Jaipur Convention Centre.
Held under the theme “Empowering Farmers, Protecting Consumers,” the conference brought together farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), processors, exporters, regulators, researchers and technology providers. Discussions covered farmer incomes, responsible sourcing, food safety, sustainable production and changing market requirements.
Sessions also examined organic farming regulations, certification, the role of FPOs in consumer protection and food safety, and evolving buyer requirements. A dedicated Buyer–Seller Meet was organised to strengthen connections between producers and buyers and create opportunities for improved market access.
Technology and innovation were also key themes, with discussions covering digital traceability, post-harvest infrastructure, testing and processing, farm-level technologies, warehousing and financing.
WSO Chairman Ramkumar Menon said the conference highlighted the importance of creating greater value for farmers while strengthening consumer confidence in the safety and quality of spices.
The conference concluded with an emphasis on continued collaboration among farmers, FPOs, industry, regulators and buyers to build a safer, sustainable and more market-ready spice ecosystem.
