CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At the Sports Authority of India, Central Regional Centre, Bhopal, National Sports Day 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and pride. The event was dedicated to legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, whose birth anniversary is observed across the country as National Sports Day. On the same day in 2019, the Prime Minister launched the Fit India Movement, which has inspired millions to embrace fitness and a healthy lifestyle. This year’s celebration reflected India’s deep appreciation for the Olympic spirit, embodying the values of excellence, friendship, and respect.

The program was graced by Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Bhopal, Alok Sharma, as the Chief Guest. Special guests included Mrs. Kamla Rawat, Additional Superintendent of Police and former international Judo player, and Abhishek Singh Chauhan, Regional Director, Sports Authority of India, Central Regional Centre, Bhopal. As part of the celebration, several sports and recreational activities such as football, tug-of-war, and hockey penalty shootouts were organized among players and staff. These activities promoted team spirit, camaraderie, and a healthy competitive environment while highlighting the importance of fitness and an active lifestyle.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Alok Sharma emphasized the vital role of sports in fostering discipline, patience, and teamwork among youth. He appreciated the athletes and coaches of the Sports Authority of India, Central Regional Centre, Bhopal, for their consistent efforts in raising the standard of Indian sports. He also announced the launch of the “Sansad Khel Mahotsav,” beginning on September 21. This initiative aims to promote sports at the grassroots level and nurture emerging talent. On this occasion, Mrs. Kamla Rawat applauded the relentless efforts of the coaching staff and athletes, stating that dedication and hard work are the true keys to success. Mr. Abhishek Singh also shared his views, urging young athletes to make the most of such platforms, showcase their talent, and continue their sporting journey with passion and integrity.

The program concluded with the Fit India Pledge, where all participants resolved to continually promote and nurture sports talent in the region, carrying forward the legacy of Major Dhyan Chand while strengthening a culture of fitness and excellence.
