CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the guidance of Ashish Bhargava, Executive Director of the Disaster Management Institute (DMI), Bhopal, and Additional Secretary of the Home Department, a national training program on “Capacity Building for Safety, Emergency Response, and Disaster Risk Management” was inaugurated by the Disaster Management Institute, Bhopal in the institute’s auditorium.
The program was inaugurated by Gagan Agarwal, Head of the Technical Department of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). In his inaugural address, Agarwal highlighted the importance and usefulness of such training programs. He stated that the Disaster Management Institute, Bhopal, is a nationally reputed institution, and with its cooperation, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) plans to organize more such workshops. These initiatives aim to minimize incidents in oil and natural gas units and prevent the recurrence of such accidents.

The main objective of this training program is to enhance the capacity of technical officers working in oil and natural gas units on important aspects of disaster management.
Sudhir Dwivedi, Joint Director of the Disaster Management Institute, introduced the outline and key themes of the program. Asit Patra, Deputy Director of the institute, highlighted the institute’s activities and delivered the vote of thanks.
The program coordinator, Priyanka Saxena, Assistant Director of the institute, explained the relevance and role of the training program.

A total of 27 participants from oil and natural gas units across the country are taking part in the training program. During this two-day training program, important aspects related to disaster management will be discussed through lectures and deliberations.
Apart from the institute’s subject experts, lectures will also be delivered by Shashivardhan Pandey, retired General Manager of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Anurag Pachauri, District Coordinator of the Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority, and Hemant Kumar Sharma, retired Director of the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
