Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University organized a program on the occasion of National Youth Day, also known as Swami Vivekananda Jayanti. The event was jointly hosted by the university’s Incubation Centre and the Department of Special Education.
The students from the Department of Special Education showcased their talents through drama, dance, and various other art forms. The event’s chief guest was Shailendra Yadav, Captain of the MP Wheelchair Cricket Team and a national-level para-swimmer. The program was presided over by Sanjay Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor of the university.

The program focused on inspiring youth to recognize their talents, build self-reliance, and create a new definition of success in every phase of life. The theme of the event was introduced by Pragya Ojha, In-charge of the university’s Incubation Centre.
In his address, Chief Guest Shailendra Yadav shared his personal journey, stating, “I have been living with polio since the age of six and have faced many challenges. However, through hard work, I have reached this position today. Despite being on a wheelchair, I play for the Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team. I urge all the youth here to become self-reliant and achieve great heights in life. Disability is our limitation but not our inability. With today’s modern solutions, even people with disabilities can secure their place in society through determination and hard work.”
Vice-Chancellor Sanjay Tiwari, in his presidential address, emphasized the significance of National Youth Day as a tribute to Swami Vivekananda, who inspired countless youth to become independent and self-reliant. He highlighted the importance of special education provisions for differently-abled children and noted that no child or youth should be considered a burden on their family in this era. He applauded skill development initiatives that have empowered many youths across the country, contributing to India’s recognition as an educated and self-reliant nation.
The program was anchored by Nidhi Rawal, Senior Advisor at the Department of Special Education, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Hemant Keswal, Head of the Department of Special Education. A large number of university officials, staff, and students attended the event, making it a grand success.
