CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Banking services across the country are set to be affected due to a proposed strike by bank employees. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called a nationwide one-day strike on September 11, 2026. With September 12 falling on the second Saturday and September 13 on Sunday, branch operations in many places will be affected for three consecutive days.
Bank employees are mainly agitating over demands including the implementation of a five-day banking system. Due to the strike, customers may face difficulties with cash deposits and withdrawals at branches, cheque-related work, KYC updates and other counter services. However, digital services such as UPI, internet banking, mobile banking and ATMs are expected to remain available as usual while banks are closed. Customers have been advised to complete urgent branch-related work in advance. It should be noted that the September 11 strike is nationwide, but bank closure conditions may vary in some cities because of local holidays. In addition, September 14 will be a bank holiday in several states on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.
