CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced a new 40-week online diploma course focused on science teaching. The programme is designed to strengthen the teaching skills and subject knowledge of educators involved in science education.
According to the announcement, registrations for the online course will begin on October 12, 2026. The programme is expected to provide teachers with structured learning opportunities while allowing them to continue their professional responsibilities. The online format will make the course accessible to educators from different parts of the country.
The diploma will focus on strengthening approaches to science teaching, classroom practices and effective methods for communicating scientific concepts to students. It is also expected to encourage teachers to adopt more engaging and learner-centred approaches in science education.
The initiative comes amid increasing emphasis on improving the quality of school education and strengthening teachers’ professional development. Digital learning programmes can help educators access specialised training without requiring extended periods away from their schools.
The 40-week duration is intended to provide sustained learning rather than short-term training. With registrations scheduled to open from October 12, interested teachers and eligible candidates can follow NCERT’s official announcements for detailed information regarding eligibility, admission procedures, course structure and other requirements.
The initiative marks another step towards expanding technology-enabled teacher education and strengthening science teaching across the country.
