CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: NCERT has prepared a new module for AI study from Classes 9 to 12.
New Delhi. Keeping in view the growing role of modern technology in school education, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has developed an introductory module on Computational Thinking (CT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for students from Classes 9 to 12. The initiative is an important step towards preparing students for future technological needs in line with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Students will be able to learn even without prior knowledge. The module has been designed so that students who do not already know about AI can also understand it easily. It will explain Computational Thinking as a process of identifying problems, breaking them into smaller parts and finding solutions in a systematic manner.
Under the activity-based teaching method, discussion, practical exercises, experiments and self-reflection have been included. A key feature is that these activities can be conducted both with and without digital tools. This will give students in schools with different levels of resources an opportunity to learn.
Special focus has been placed on responsible use of AI. The module will help students understand how artificial intelligence works, where it is used, and what its possibilities and limitations are. Along with this, topics such as data privacy, identifying misleading information, fairness and digital safety have also been included. Students will be encouraged to check the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated information instead of accepting it without verification. The module also underlines the importance of human judgement, creativity and ethical responsibility.
Preparation for future education. The aim of including AI and Computational Thinking in education is to develop logical ability, innovation and technological understanding among students. This will enable them to use emerging technologies with greater awareness and responsibility. NCERT’s module focuses not only on teaching students how to use technology, but also on understanding its impact and dealing wisely with the challenges associated with it.
