NDA Celebrates Modi Surpassing Nehru’s Historic Record
CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is marking a significant political milestone as Prime Minister Narendra Modi completes 12 years in office and surpasses the record of Jawaharlal Nehru as the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history. Leaders of NDA constituent parties gathered in New Delhi to celebrate the twin achievements and discuss the coalition’s future roadmap.
According to official calculations, Modi has completed 4,399 consecutive days as an elected Prime Minister, overtaking Nehru’s uninterrupted tenure following India’s first general elections. The achievement is being viewed by NDA leaders as a landmark moment in the country’s democratic journey and a reflection of sustained public support across three consecutive national mandates.
The meeting, attended by senior NDA leaders, chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, and alliance partners, is expected to pass a resolution congratulating the Prime Minister on the historic feat. Discussions will also focus on governance reforms, development initiatives, ease of living, ease of doing business, and the vision of a developed India by 2047.
NDA leaders have highlighted achievements in infrastructure, welfare delivery, economic growth, and global engagement during the past 12 years, while opposition parties have used the occasion to raise questions on employment, inflation, and economic challenges. The milestone has therefore emerged as both a moment of celebration and political debate in the national arena.
