CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi. Delhi Police released All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora on Saturday morning. She had been taken into preventive custody ahead of the proposed “Lehra Do Tiranga” march in the national capital on the evening of October 16. According to Delhi Police, she was released after the formalities related to her detention were completed.

The Tiranga march had been proposed at Central Park in Delhi’s Connaught Place. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke had called for the Tiranga march at Central Park in Connaught Place. Through the protest, demonstrators were to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Protesters have been raising questions over the process of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.

Ahead of the march, Delhi Police tightened security arrangements. Police cited concerns that law and order and traffic could be affected while taking action. On Friday, several protesters, including Dipke and Neha Bora, were detained.

Questions were raised about Neha Bora’s whereabouts before her release. After she was taken into custody, people associated with AISA questioned where she had been kept. The organisation alleged that she was taken to different locations and that clear information about her status was not available for a considerable time. Her release was later confirmed in the early hours of Saturday.

Delhi Police said the procedure related to Neha Bora’s detention was completed under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act. After her release, attention is now focused on the action taken against Abhijit Dipke.

Police said action has been taken against Abhijit Dipke under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). He is to be produced before a special executive magistrate. The CJP had also raised questions over Dipke’s detention.

The incident has intensified debate in the national capital over permission for protests, public order and the right to peaceful demonstration. For now, attention remains on the next stage of police action and the related legal process.
