CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A new controversy has emerged over spending from the public exchequer on hair styling and makeup for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu. According to figures released under the Right to Information process, around 1.43 million shekels were spent on makeup and hair styling for Israeli prime ministers from 2019 to August 2026. About 90 percent of the total amount is linked to the Netanyahu couple.

According to the report, the highest spending under this head was recorded in 2025, at around 337,000 shekels. During Netanyahu’s visit to Washington in February 2025, about $13,500 was spent on a makeup artist and hairstylist. During his July 2024 visit to the United States, the expenditure was also around $11,500.

In October 2023, when the Gaza war began, records also show spending of 2,457 shekels on the prime minister’s hair styling. However, the government has not made public the names of the hairstylists and makeup artists, citing national security.

The information was made public after a legal petition by the Movement for Freedom of Information, intensifying the debate over transparency in the use of government funds.
