Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an unannounced visit to the United Arab Emirates on Sunday and met President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. A senior Israeli official gave the information to news agency Reuters.
No detailed official statement on the meeting was immediately issued by Israeli or Emirati officials. According to Israeli media, Netanyahu arrived in Abu Dhabi by private aircraft and stayed there for about four hours. Reports said the visit had not been publicly announced in advance. Israel’s Channel 12, citing two sources, reported that Netanyahu and Mohammed bin Zayed held a meeting.
The meeting took place at a time when fresh discussion is under way in Israel over alleged security warnings before the October 7, 2023, attack. Some reports have claimed that Mohammed bin Zayed had warned Netanyahu about possible major action by Hamas.
