CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Tel Aviv. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a strong warning over a violent incident in the cockpit of a Flydubai flight travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. He said that if the investigation finds the attacker had been sent by someone, those responsible would have to pay a “very heavy price”. However, Netanyahu did not name any country, and no external conspiracy has yet been confirmed.

The incident took place on Flydubai flight FZ1073, which was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. According to reports, an Omani co-pilot attacked Indian national Captain Smit Machhar inside the cockpit. The aircraft descended thousands of feet within a short time, after which passengers and crew members intervened and helped bring the situation under control. The aircraft was safely landed at Tabuk airport in Saudi Arabia.

Netanyahu said the initial investigation was also looking into the possibility that the attacker was influenced by radical Islamist views. He also said investigators were trying to determine whether he had been sent by any other person or organisation. There has been no independent confirmation of this claim so far.

The investigation into the incident is moving forward with the cooperation of authorities in the United Arab Emirates and Israel. Flydubai has also said authorities should be allowed to establish the facts and the causes of the incident through the investigation, and that no hasty conclusions should be drawn.
