CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In the holy city of Mahakal, Ujjain, broadcasting through its own All India Radio (Akashvani) center is set to begin from September. Established through the efforts of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, this center has now moved beyond its initial stages and is heading towards actual broadcasting.
On Wednesday, the first phase of the selection process for various posts at Akashvani was conducted at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, located in the School of Continuing Education at Vikram University. More than 100 applicants from the city participated. University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arpan Bhardwaj, Program Head of Akashvani Bhopal Rajesh Bhatt, and Acting Director of the School of Continuing Education Sushil Kumar Sharma inspected the examination and gave necessary instructions.
Applications had been invited for the provisional panel for programs like announcements, women’s programs, Gram Sabha, and Yuvvani at the Akashvani Ujjain center. Out of nearly 130 applicants, about 100 appeared for the written test. Rajesh Bhatt explained that this selection process is not for permanent employment, but candidates will be offered opportunities as per program requirements.

Voice tests and personal interviews are scheduled for August 22, 2025. Selected talents will get opportunities to work as announcers and in programs like Gram Sabha, Yuvvani, Mahila Sabha, and other special shows.
Rajesh Bhatt stated that this Akashvani center in Ujjain will not only serve as a medium of broadcasting but will also showcase regional art, culture, and folk traditions on national and international platforms. The Malwi culture, devotional traditions, voices of priests, and the cultural heritage along the Shipra River will be brought alive.
Through this new center, local citizens will benefit from services like weather updates, crop information, market prices, educational and career guidance, Gram Sabha, Yuvvani, and Mahila Sabha. During emergencies such as floods or pandemics, the center will act as a reliable source of immediate information. Residents of Ujjain will also be able to directly listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” program. The news of the Akashvani center opening in Ujjain has created a wave of joy among the citizens. People have extended congratulations to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this achievement.
