CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Taking a significant step towards connecting farmers’ produce in Madhya Pradesh to international markets, the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Federation and Agricultural Mandi Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL). This state-level workshop was held in the presence of Cooperation Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang and Agriculture Minister Shri Endal Singh Kansana.
Minister Shri Sarang stated that the formation of NCEL aims to ensure better prices for farmers’ produce and to elevate the cooperative movement to a global level. He shared that 1,578 societies from the state have already become members of NCEL, positioning Madhya Pradesh as a potential leading exporting state.
Agriculture Minister Shri Kansana described cooperation as an essential part of agriculture and emphasized that the path to farmers’ prosperity lies through cooperative systems. Highlighting that the state has received the Krishi Karman Award seven times, he stressed the need for even stronger efforts in this direction.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri Ashok Varnwal said that now farmers’ products can be directly delivered to markets based on demand, ensuring fair prices. He underlined the state’s contribution to the export of spices, paddy, bananas, and more.
NCEL MD Shri Anupam Kaushik stated that the organization will directly connect Madhya Pradesh’s unique products to international markets. He said, “Prosperity through cooperation and growth through exports – this is our goal.”
During the seminar held on this occasion, experts guided farmers on international standards, packaging, branding, and market access. The workshop saw participation from small and medium-level spice producers, handicraft artisans, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and cooperative societies.
At the conclusion of the program, Cooperation Commissioner Shri Manoj Pushp expressed gratitude and remarked that this agreement will prove to be a historic step toward increasing farmers’ income.
