Even before the row over his comment about Lord Shri Krishna had subsided, a video related to Lord Shri Ram has now gone viral on social media. In the video, Shastri can be heard saying that Lord Ram had five fathers.
Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav shared the video and expressed anger at Dhirendra Shastri. He said that first a controversial video about Lord Shri Krishna surfaced, and now indecent remarks about the father of Lord Shri Ram are being circulated. Akhilesh questioned at whose behest such statements were being made. Accusing Shastri of disturbing social harmony, he demanded that all his programmes be cancelled and his events be stopped.
Earlier, Dhirendra Shastri had made a comment while comparing Lord Ram and Lord Krishna during a katha at Karera in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. Saints of the Braj region and Krishna devotees had objected to it. After the controversy escalated, Shastri clarified that his intention was not to create a distinction between the two deities. He had also apologised if sentiments had been hurt.
The new video that has gone viral about Lord Shri Ram has now fuelled the controversy again. After Akhilesh Yadav’s demand, the issue has become a subject of discussion in political and religious circles.
