CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Education Department in Madhya Pradesh has issued new guidelines on the Teacher Eligibility Test, or TET, and clarified the position. According to the guidelines, the concerned teachers who have not passed the TET prescribed under the RTE will have to appear for the examination. This time, the examination will be conducted by the Board of Secondary Education in offline mode. Primary-level assistant teachers, primary teachers, assistant adhyapaks, contract school teachers category-3 and primary science/laboratory teachers working in government schools come under its ambit. At the middle-school level, higher-grade teachers, middle-school teachers, adhyapaks and contract school teachers category-2 will also be eligible for the examination.
The guidelines have given relief to teachers who have passed CTET. Teachers who have cleared the Central Teacher Eligibility Test, or CTET, will not be required to take this TET examination again. Teachers teaching primary and middle classes in non-government schools may also appear in this examination. The application process will be conducted through the Employees Selection Board portal. The last date for applications has been fixed as October 5, 2026. According to the department, a teacher will be allotted an examination centre at the headquarters of the same district where he or she is currently working. Supreme Court directions regarding TET are also applicable across the country. According to the central government, in 2026 the Supreme Court extended the deadline for acquiring the TET qualification to August 31, 2028.
