CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Haridwar. Ahead of the upcoming Haridwar Kumbh, the Railways has announced a major facility for passengers. The Ministry of Railways has approved three new rail services for Haridwar. These services will strengthen direct rail connectivity between Gujarat and Haridwar. They are expected to make travel easier for devotees, tourists and general passengers.
The new services include the Haridwar-Veraval AC Express and the Haridwar-Okha AC Express. The Veraval service will operate two days a week. From Haridwar, the train will depart on Wednesdays and Sundays, while from Veraval it will operate on Thursdays and Mondays. The Okha-Haridwar service will run once a week and will provide direct rail connectivity to Haridwar from the Saurashtra and Dwarka regions.
In addition, the Bandra Terminus-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Garib Rath Express has been extended up to Haridwar. This service will reach Haridwar via Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Roorkee. It will provide an additional option for passengers travelling to Haridwar from western India.
The Railways’ decision is being seen as important in view of preparations for the Haridwar Kumbh. During the Kumbh, a large number of devotees from across the country are expected to reach Haridwar. The new rail services are expected to ease passenger movement while also promoting religious tourism and regional connectivity.
