CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A tragic helicopter crash occurred in Manhattan, New York, around 3 PM on Thursday, killing all six people on board — three children and three adults, all Spanish nationals. The group was on a sightseeing tour when the helicopter split into two mid-air and plunged into the Hudson River.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump reacted to the incident on Truth Social, calling it horrific. He stated that the footage of the crash was terrifying and offered prayers for the victims’ families and friends.

According to NBC News, officials confirmed the helicopter lost control shortly after attempting a turn near George Washington Bridge along the New Jersey shoreline. A video circulating on social media shows the helicopter plummeting directly into the river. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise and seeing the chopper break apart mid-air.

Data from ABS-D Exchange revealed the aircraft had taken off from Lower Manhattan. It flew north along the Hudson River and crashed while returning south. At the time, winds were recorded between 9 to 12 mph, with visibility up to 10 miles and only light rain reported. The helicopter’s altitude was slightly over 1,000 feet — below the cloud cover.

FlightAware data shows it was a tour helicopter, which took off from Wall Street Heliport at 2:59 PM, circled the Statue of Liberty, then moved west of Manhattan. It turned near the George Washington Bridge and headed south along the New Jersey coast before breaking into two and falling into the river. Police and firefighters quickly responded to the scene.
