New Zealand have announced a 16-member squad for the five-match T20 international series against India. Mitchell Santner will captain the side. The first match of the series will be played on October 22 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
The most notable return to the squad is that of fast bowler Adam Milne. The 34-year-old Milne has returned to New Zealand’s international T20 team after more than a year. He had also missed the T20 World Cup because of injury. Fast bowlers Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy are also in the squad with him. New Zealand have included a total of seven fast bowlers in the team.
However, New Zealand have suffered a major setback in the form of Rachin Ravindra. He has been ruled out of the T20 series after injuring his shoulder during a promotional shoot last week. He is expected to undergo around six weeks of rehabilitation and is targeting a return in the subsequent ODI series against India.
Michael Bracewell has also returned to the New Zealand squad. The pair of Finn Allen and Tim Seifert could again be seen opening the innings. The squad also includes key players such as Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell and Mark Chapman. The next T20 meeting between the two teams will come after the T20 World Cup final held in March.
