CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress / Bhopal: An Advanced Wireless Cardiac Life System (ACLS) has been installed to provide practical knowledge related to the treatment of patients to medical students studying at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Center (BMHRC).
It has been installed in the anaesthesiology department of the hospital. Here, through an advanced maniquin (mannequin/dummy), students will be taught how to examine or treat a serious patient admitted in critical condition in the hospital. Dr Manisha Srivastava, Director in-charge, BMHRC inaugurated this advanced life support system.
Manisha Srivastava said that this maniquin is different from the commonly available dummy. Like a common patient, pulse, heartbeat, airway etc. can also be examined in this maniquin. This maniquin is attached to a monitor, in which pulse, heartbeat, etc. are visible. It is controlled by a senior doctor, who teaches the students the methods of investigation and treatment according to different situations.
How to intubate a patient can also be taught through this maniquin. He said that BMHRC is now evolving as an educational institution. In such a situation, the ACLS system will be very helpful in the learning of students. This will also enable patients to get quality treatment.
BMHRC in-charge superintendent and head of the anaesthesiology department Anurag Yadav said, "Apart from doctors, we will also train nursing and paramedical staff and students about ACLS. At the same time, the entire staff will be given training in Basic Life System (BLS).
