Liverpool RB Trent Alexander-Arnold's knee injury aggravates, out of Carabao Cup final

Klopp had earlier claimed that Arnold's injury was nothing serious

CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In a major blow to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold's knee injury aggravated, ruling him out of action for a few weeks. The development means Liverpool will be forced to line up sans the gifted Englishman for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea later this month.

25-year-old Arnold, who is the vice-captain of Klopp's team, aggravated a knee injury during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Burnley on February 10, Friday. Arnold had injured his lateral ligament during an FA Cup tie against Arsenal on 7 January. The Englishman felt pain in the same knee 45 minutes into the Burnley game and was taken off, English media reports said.

Quoting Klopp, who has announced the current campaign will be his last with the Reds, The Guardian reported that Arnold's injury was aggravated when he caught his studs on the pitch. Earlier, the German gaffer had told the press that his man was pulled off as a precautionary measure and the injury was "nothing really bad", Goal.com said.

The Premier League leaders have not revealed Trent Alexander-Arnold's expected return date. Media reports claim that he will not be rushed back as the ligament tear has become a recurring issue. However, with a season-defining league clash against Manchester City looming, Liverpool will hope to have him back as soon as possible. In the meantime, Conor Bradley, 20, is expected to start the immediate fixtures.
