ITDC INDIA EPRESS/ITDC NEWS R Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday sent a recommendation to Lt Governor Anil Baijal to ease restrictions imposed to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The Kejriwal government has recommended lifting of the weekend curfew (in effect from 10pm on Friday to 5am on Monday) and allowing shops and commercial establishments to open on all days. The Delhi government had announced a number of curbs on December 28 as COVID cases surged. These curbs included shops having to function on odd-even basis to restrict crowds.
The government has recommended allowing private offices to function with 50 per cent attendance. Private offices had previously been asked to implement work-from-home measures. The move to ease curbs comes as Delhi continues to see a dip in Covid cases. On Thursday, Delhi reported 12,306 new Covid cases, a drop of 10.72 per cent over 24 hours.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had said 12,000 cases was still a high figure. “The peak is gone, but not the infection. The number of cases increased from 50 a day to 28,000, now it has come down to 12,000, but that is still high. When it comes down further, we will definitely remove the restrictions,"
