CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: NHDC, in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, organized a state-level painting competition on energy conservation at Subhash Yadav Bhawan, New Market, Bhopal. The event’s chief guest, Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mangubhai Patel, and NHDC Managing Director Rajeev Jain presented prizes for two categories: first prize of ₹50,000, second prize of ₹30,000, third prize of ₹20,000, and 10 consolation prizes of ₹7,500 each. Additionally, all participants from various parts of the state received a participation amount of ₹2,000.
During the award ceremony, the Governor praised NHDC’s efforts in organizing the competition to raise energy conservation awareness among students and commended the participation of children, parents, and school management. He also urged continued awareness of energy-saving initiatives in the future. Managing Director Rajeev Jain emphasized NHDC’s commitment to making the state self-reliant through green energy production and conservation. He expressed gratitude to the Governor for his presence and encouragement of the students.
In the first phase of the competition, schools across the state conducted their own contests and sent two best paintings from each category to NHDC. From these, 50 participants in each category were invited to Bhopal for a two-hour spot painting competition. The competition aimed to spread energy conservation awareness among school students and was held in two categories: Category A (Classes 5, 6, and 7) and Category B (Classes 8, 9, and 10). A total of 100 selected students from various schools across the state participated. The themes for both categories were “Protect Nature’s Gifts, Embrace Sustainable Change” and “You Have the Power to Save Energy.”
In Category A, the first prize was awarded to Mukul Joshi (Class 7) from Army Public School, Mhow, Indore district. The second prize went to Anushka Namdev (Class 6) from PM Shri KV, Dindori, while the third prize was secured by Abhiraj Ranjit (Class 6) from Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, Guna.
In Category B, the first prize was won by Anismita Bose (Class 8) from Atomic Energy Central School, Indore. The second prize was awarded to Mehul Jharbade (Class 9) from Kamla Nehru Higher Secondary School, Bhopal, and the third prize went to Brahmani T. Abbani (Class 9) from St. Joseph Co-Ed School, Bhopal.
The winners of both categories will represent Madhya Pradesh in the National Painting Competition to be held in Delhi on December 11, 2024.
NHDC Limited is a joint venture of NHPC Limited and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, established in 2000. Currently, it operates two hydropower projects—Indira Sagar (1000 MW) and Omkareshwar (520 MW)—and two solar projects—Sanchi Solar Project (8 MW) and Omkareshwar Solar Floating Project (88 MW)—providing 100% of the electricity generated to the state of Madhya Pradesh.
