CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Institute of Design (NID), Madhya Pradesh, warmly welcomed the Foundation Studies Batch 2030 with the launch of a three-day design orientation programme. The programme marks the first step in the students’ inspiring journey in design education.

The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. This was followed by an address by institute Director Dr. Vidya Rakesh and Registrar Krishna Birhman, who welcomed the newly admitted students and encouraged them to begin their academic life with curiosity, creativity, collaboration and a sense of responsibility. This year, a total of 83 students from different states, including Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujarat, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, as well as other parts of India, have joined the Foundation Studies programme. NRI students have also become part of the batch, further enriching the institute’s diversity. Several parents were present at the inaugural session and interacted with the institute’s leadership and faculty members on the important occasion.

A major highlight of the programme was an inspiring session by noted animation filmmaker, designer, academic and NID alumnus Shri Dhimant Vyas. He shared his experiences with the students on creativity, keen observation, the art of storytelling and the changing role of design. He encouraged them to think beyond boundaries and create with purpose.

During the orientation, the students were introduced to faculty members and became familiar with the institute’s academic environment, interdisciplinary teaching approach, institutional processes and campus culture. Over the next two days, theatre workshops, experiential learning, campus familiarisation and various interactive activities will further strengthen confidence, creativity and a spirit of collaboration among the students.

Established as an Institute of National Importance under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, the institute provides multidisciplinary design education with a special focus on innovation, sustainable development, industry engagement and socially responsible design. The institute prepares students to respond effectively to contemporary challenges through creative problem-solving.

The design orientation programme marks the beginning of a rich academic journey for the Foundation Studies Batch 2030, aimed at developing them into sensitive, innovative and socially responsible designers.
