CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Foundation Batch 2024–25 of the National Institute of Design, Madhya Pradesh (NID MP), showcased the outcomes of their Design Methodology projects, rooted in empathy, observation, and real-life experiences. This initiative was carried out through close collaboration with the government school of Acharpura and the local community.

The students conducted interactive sessions with schoolchildren, including a waste management workshop titled “Kooda Se Kamaal” (Magic from Waste), which featured reuse kits and a captivating mascot named Gam-Moo. Additionally, an awareness campaign was run highlighting the harmful effects of tobacco through storytelling and video presentations. These activities became a medium for mutual learning, as both students and children jointly addressed social and environmental issues.

Furthermore, the students addressed other concerns through various initiatives, including food waste in the mess, water availability for support staff, awareness about nearby health facilities, easing the burden of laborers in the grain market, campus orientation tools for new members, and menstrual hygiene and disposal systems. These efforts emphasized the role of design in building inclusive and empathetic communities.

The entire process culminated in a final exhibition of the students’ projects, showcasing process documentation, prototypes, and community feedback. Students from Acharpura Government School were invited to this exhibition to witness the direct impact of their participation—thus experiencing the true power of design collaboration.
