CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Bhopal, the 79th Independence Day was celebrated as a unique blend of enthusiasm, creativity, and patriotism. The campus, adorned in the colors of the tricolor, was filled with the spirit of national pride and unity. The program was conducted by second-year Accessory Design students Rupam Singh and Jiya Soni.
Flag Hoisting and Cultural Presentations
The celebration began at 9:30 AM with Director Akhil Sahay hoisting the national flag followed by the singing of the national anthem Jana Gana Mana. After the ceremonial lamp lighting, cultural performances commenced. A soulful Saraswati Vandana by second-year students Ashlesha and Devyani created an inspiring atmosphere. Third-year student Aditi Singh moved the audience with the patriotic song Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon, while first-year student Mannat’s monologue and third-year student Rajeshwari Nair’s poem further strengthened the patriotic spirit. The cultural team of the institute then presented a high-energy group dance.

Fashion Ramp Walk on National Handloom Week Theme
A fashion ramp walk based on the theme of National Handloom Week became the highlight of the event, where students showcased different draping styles. These drapes were learned during the handloom-themed draping workshop, reflecting a creative fusion of traditional weaving and modern design.
Director’s Inspiring Address and Special Initiative

In his address, Director Akhil Sahay shared inspiring stories of India’s youngest freedom fighters and women warriors. He emphasized the importance of self-discipline and preservation of socio-cultural values for national progress. As a special initiative this year, he personally invited 30 children from a nearby slum community to experience the environment of a national institution like NIFT, encouraging them to pursue education and bring pride to the country. At the end of the event, these children were gifted study kits.
Competitions and Award Distribution

Winners of student competitions held under National Handloom Week were felicitated, along with faculty competitions organized on National Handloom Day. The award for Best Attire (Male Faculty) went to Prabhat Kumar Jha, while Anjali Gupta won in the female faculty category. Winners of essay writing and poster-making competitions under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign were also honored. The awards were distributed by Director Akhil Sahay, Campus Academic Coordinator Dr. Debojyoti Ganguly, and Cluster Initiative Coordinator Anupam Saxena.
Message of Atmanirbhar Bharat
In his address, Dr. Debojyoti Ganguly (CAC) stressed the importance of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), urging students to actively contribute to the nation’s development.
Tricolor Journey and Special Events
The celebration concluded with a Tricolor Journey, organized in three phases:

Tricolor exhibition and competition,
Security march past & Har Ghar Tiranga selfie campaign,
Tricolor journey, cultural performances, and special tricolor lighting.
The Tricolor Exhibition continued on campus till August 15. Students, faculty members, guests, and invited children proudly carried the national flag during the journey. The event was also attended by Student Development Activity Coordinators (SDAC) Baisakhi and Rizwan, faculty members, and children.
NIFT Bhopal’s celebration not only reinforced patriotic spirit but also stood as an inspiring example of honoring India’s diversity through art, culture, and innovation.
