CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Bhopal welcomed a total of 211 students for the batch of 2024, including three lateral entry students. The new batch comprises students from various departments: Textile Design (34), Fashion Design (34), Knitwear Design (29), Fashion Communication (41), Fashion and Lifestyle Accessories (30), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (21), and Master in Fashion Management (22).
The orientation program commenced with an inspiring welcome speech by Course Coordinator Chetna Patial. This was followed by an informative speech from Dr. Arnab Sen, the outgoing Campus Academic Coordinator, setting the academic journey’s direction. Dr. Sen introduced and congratulated the new Campus Academic Coordinator, Dr. Debjyoti Ganguly.
Joint Director Akhil Sahay and NIFT Director Lieutenant Colonel Ashish Agarwal also addressed the new students, sharing their vision and expectations for the batch. They emphasized the importance of adhering to the institute’s rules and regulations to maintain a harmonious and productive learning environment.
The highlight of the orientation was the inspiring speeches by distinguished alumni Saba Tiwari, Muskan Shivhare, and Sushmita Shahi. They shared their personal experiences and encouraged the newcomers to embrace their mistakes, learn from them, and strive for continuous growth. The alumni stressed the importance of building a strong portfolio in the competitive fashion industry and encouraged students to actively participate in extracurricular activities for overall personal development.
The orientation also included an essential session on anti-ragging laws, gender sensitivity, and substance abuse, led by Dr. Sangeeta Johri, Pro Vice Chancellor of RNTU University, providing valuable insights and guidelines to ensure a safe and respectful campus environment.
Practical safety demonstrations were part of the program, with NIFT security personnel conducting fire safety demonstrations and raising awareness about essential safety protocols. Additionally, gynecologist Dr. Sunita and mental and physical health expert counselor Sushma Singh addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of maintaining mental and physical health throughout their academic journey.
To make the welcome special, each new student received a jute bag as part of their welcome kit, symbolizing NIFT’s commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
The orientation program at NIFT successfully set the stage for the new batch, providing them with valuable knowledge, inspiration, and a sense of community as they embark on their educational journey in the world of fashion technology. The orientation program spanned a week, with the first two days dedicated to document verification and the remaining three days filled with various activities and learning sessions.
