The three-day Orientation Program 2025 began at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhopal, organized by the Foundation Program (Design/Technology). Scheduled till August 1, the orientation aims to introduce students to the academic and cultural traditions of the institute.
Welcoming and Inspirational Sessions
The event opened with a welcome address by Ms. Chetna Patial, Course Coordinator of the Foundation Program. Acting Director of NIFT Bhopal, Mr. Akhil Sahay, addressed the students.
In a special session, Professor Shinju Mahajan (Head of Academic Affairs, NIFT Headquarters, New Delhi) guided students on time management and balancing academic and personal life.
Dr. Debjyoti Ganguly, Campus Academic Coordinator, introduced students to all six departments:

Awareness and Participation Activities
The Student Development and Activity Committee (SDAC) shared insights on student committees, club activities, support programs, and the institute’s social media policy. Ice-breaking activities helped new students connect with each other.
Awareness sessions covered important topics such as plagiarism and anti-plagiarism practices, intellectual property rights (IPR), anti-ragging laws, gender sensitivity, mental health, and substance abuse.
Students also received orientation on hostel facilities, CMS online registration, examination and evaluation policies, and medical insurance.
A visit to the Tribal Museum of Bhopal is scheduled over the next two days.
Representatives from the Union Bank of India provided information on education loans.
NIFT alumni including Moinuddin Khatri, Rishika Nema, Suhani Sridhar, and Bhavana Jain interacted with students and shared their personal journeys.
251 New Admissions at NIFT Bhopal
This academic year, NIFT Bhopal welcomed 251 new students, enrolled in the following programs:

Upcoming Events and Workshops
Professor Vinay Mishra from the Psychology Department of Bhopal School of Social Sciences will conduct special sessions on mental and physical wellness, and lead interactive ice-breaking activities.
Ms. Naish Zamir will hold a workshop on anti-ragging laws and gender sensitivity.
On August 1, departmental activities, international linkage presentations, and a student interaction session will take place.
High Student Enthusiasm
Faculty, staff, and students from all departments participated actively. The sessions were received with great attentiveness and excitement. Departments extended a warm welcome to the new batch.
Anuja Anand, a student from Mumbai, said, “This orientation is not only helping us understand the academic and cultural essence of the institute but is also giving us clarity about our career goals and the chance to connect with new peers.”
