CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In a bid to give a new dimension to Madhya Pradesh’s handicrafts and handloom sector through design, branding, and marketing, Commissioner Madan Kumar held an important meeting with Lt. Colonel Ashish Agrawal, Director of NIFT Bhopal.
The meeting resulted in an agreement to organize a design hackathon among students and alumni of NIFT for the Maa Ahilya Devi Saree Collection. It was also decided to involve NIFT students in hackathons organized by the Handicraft Development Corporation (Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom) and to include NIFT’s esteemed faculty as part of the jury panel.
Additionally, there was an in-depth discussion on leveraging NIFT’s expertise for the value addition and marketing of GI-tagged and ODOP (One District One Product) items, involving NIFT as a knowledge partner in the branding of Mrignayanee by the Handicraft Development Corporation (HSVN), and supporting traditional artisans and weavers with design and marketing under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.
The possibilities of offering consultation and mentorship to entrepreneurial artisans through NIFT’s Atal Incubation Center and the Bhaskar portal were also explored.
Also present in the meeting were Director Akhil Sahay, Joint Director of NIFT; Arnab Sen, Campus Coordinator (Textiles); Anupam Saxena, Associate Professor, CIC; Rajdeep Singh, Campus Coordinator (Fashion Technology); and Kriti Chaudhary from EY-PMV PMU.
