CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the Nirogi Kaya Abhiyan, a health campaign aimed at screening for non-communicable diseases, 1,55,373 people in Bhopal have been screened for high blood pressure, while 1,45,653 people have been tested for diabetes so far.
This special campaign, running until March 31, is screening individuals above 30 years of age for diabetes, hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and oral, breast, and cervical cancers.
Screenings are being conducted at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Primary Health Centers, CM Sanjeevani Clinics, Civil Dispensaries, Community Health Centers, Civil Hospitals, and District Hospitals. The reports of diagnosis and treatment are being recorded on the NCD (Non-Communicable Disease) portal.
So far in the campaign:
12,139 people have been identified with hypertension, and
13,648 have been diagnosed with diabetes — most of them diagnosed for the first time during this campaign.
Treatment for these patients has already started at nearby health institutions. Along with medications, guidance on lifestyle changes, dietary habits, and exercise is also being provided.
Additionally, 46,226 people have undergone screening for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, and 11,261 have shown early symptoms.
District and block-level officials are actively monitoring the services being provided at various health facilities and in the field. ASHA workers are collecting data door-to-door using CBAAC forms to help identify new patients. Based on these forms, screening and registration for non-communicable diseases is being done.
Along with screening, health awareness is being spread among the public. People are being informed about symptoms, prevention, and treatment of various diseases. Field health workers are promoting the campaign and encouraging people to get screened. Those already screened are undergoing re-screening as well. Citizens are being advised to maintain a balanced diet, healthy eating habits, regular yoga, breathing exercises, and physical activity.
Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, emphasized that non-communicable diseases can be life-threatening, and regular check-ups are essential. If there is a family history of such diseases, people must get tested regularly, he added.
