CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCU), former Union Minister and author Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ interacted with students during his campus visit. He narrated the story of India’s first “Author Village,” established in Dehradun. He said that a unique village has been created in the lap of the Himalayas for writers and creative minds from across the country and the world. The village houses a collection of 40,000 books and offers residential facilities for emerging writers. The entire architecture is inspired by Himalayan design. A museum focused on Himalayan folk culture is also being developed there.

He said that while the world views everything as a global market, the Indian perspective is different — India sees the whole world as one family. The media, too, must understand and interpret the world from this Indian viewpoint. “We are not a market; we are human beings,” he emphasized. “Our civilization, culture, and concerns are interconnected. It is essential to instill this spirit in media so that the great legacy of Indian values moves forward.”

Vice Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari welcomed him to the campus. Dr. Nishank visited the statue of Makhanlal Chaturvedi and appreciated the creative display of the historic newspaper ‘Karmaveer’ at the site of the inscription. He also expressed that the Author Village could collaborate with the university in creative initiatives.
