To encourage the effective and wider use of official language Hindi in West Central Railway, the Official Language Department at headquarters, Jabalpur, organised the ‘Official Language Fortnight Closing Ceremony-2026’ on a grand scale. The programme was held under the chairmanship of West Central Railway General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh and under the guidance of Chief Official Language Officer Ashutosh. Additional General Manager Eknath Mohkar was present as the special guest.

An all-India grand humour poets’ conference was also organised during the ceremony. Poets invited from Bilaspur, Bhopal, Katni, Dewas and Kota captivated the audience with songs, ghazals and humorous-satirical presentations.

In his address, General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh said railway work is directly connected with the general public. In such a situation, the simpler, clearer and more accessible the language, the more effective the communication will be. He said the entire jurisdiction of West Central Railway falls under the ‘A’ region, and therefore the use of simple and easy Hindi, from providing information to passengers to official and administrative work, makes efficiency even more effective.

At the ceremony, the Passenger Coach Rebuilding Workshop, Nishatpura, Bhopal, was honoured with the ‘Inter-Workshop Official Language Shield-2025’ for notable and commendable work in the field of official language Hindi throughout the year. General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh presented the shield to the workshop representatives.

Along with this, Manoj Kumar Singh, Deputy Chief Materials Manager; Ashish Singh Sengar, Chief Staff and Welfare Inspector; and Jinendra and Shivani, technicians from the Bogie Shop, were also presented cash awards and commendation certificates for excellent work in the field of official language Hindi.

On the occasion, Prafull V. Kohade, Chief Workshop Manager of the Nishatpura Workshop, Bhopal, said Hindi is the official language of the Union of India. Therefore, using official language Hindi in day-to-day government work is the constitutional responsibility of all. He said every officer and employee has an important role in the effective implementation of the Government of India’s official language policies.

Kohade congratulated the Official Language Department as well as other award-winning departments, offices, officers and employees. He also expressed gratitude to General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh, Additional General Manager Eknath Mohkar and Chief Official Language Officer Ashutosh.
