CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : The National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal has taken a significant step by announcing that it will no longer purchase software developed by American companies. This decision comes in response to the recent tariffs imposed by the United States on Indian goods and services.

The institute stated that this move is a strategic and symbolic response to adverse trade developments that affect India’s economic interests.

NITTTR Bhopal emphasized that it is working to reduce dependence on American digital products and services in alignment with the national interest. This decision also aligns with the institute’s broader goal of promoting digital self-reliance and supporting indigenous or non-American alternatives.

The move reflects a commitment to data sovereignty, security, and the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India).

Officials from NITTTR Bhopal mentioned that the policy aims to encourage the use of open-source, India-developed, or other internationally diverse software solutions that align with the country’s strategic digital objectives.

NITTTR Bhopal, under the Ministry of Education, is one of India’s premier institutions focused on capacity building and professional development of technical educators across the country.

The institute is also exploring collaboration opportunities with Indian startups and academic institutions to develop software tools tailored for education and research.

This decision is expected to set a precedent for other similar institutions reconsidering their dependence on foreign software in light of changing international trade dynamics.
