CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At NITTTR Bhopal, five-day training programmes are being organized for faculty members of the Higher Education Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, on the subjects of Semiconductor Science and Technology and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). These programmes aim to familiarize teachers—and through them, students—with this emerging field.

According to C.C. Tripathi, Director of the Institute, the world is currently looking towards India in the semiconductor sector. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of teachers to create awareness among students through research and innovation in this field, enabling them to move towards successful careers in the semiconductor industry. Trained faculty members can make curricula more industry-oriented and guide students toward semiconductor-based projects, internships, and career opportunities.

Prof. P.K. Purohit, Dean (Corporate & International Relations) and State Coordinator, Madhya Pradesh, stated that the institute is organizing 75 training programmes for Higher Education Department teachers this year. Through 51 programmes, more than 1,800 teachers, and through 8 programmes, over 250 students have already been trained in emerging areas.

Under the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) training, teachers are being given detailed instruction on copyrights, patents, trademarks, industrial designs, GI tags, trade secrets, and plant variety protection. This training enables teachers to protect academic content, use others’ work appropriately, follow copyright rules while using books, websites, videos, or research papers, avoid plagiarism, and guide students correctly in today’s digital age. An understanding of IPR helps teachers maintain originality and ensure the proper use of online content.

Furthermore, when teachers conduct research, develop projects, or create new ideas, patents and copyrights safeguard their innovations. Knowledge of IPR rules also helps teachers avoid unintentionally misusing protected material.
