Amid the results of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) elections, Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav has advised party leaders and workers to celebrate victories with simplicity. He said clearly that after a win, there should be no commotion and no procession. Akhilesh appealed to workers to share their happiness peacefully through social media.
Accuses BJP of conspiracy to spoil the atmosphere Posting on social media platform X, Akhilesh Yadav said party workers should stay away from any kind of dispute and false allegations. He expressed apprehension that BJP supporters could join SP programmes, spoil the atmosphere and later accuse the party of rowdy conduct. Akhilesh said SP workers need to remain alert in view of the upcoming Assembly elections. However, these allegations against the BJP are based on Akhilesh’s statement.
Winning candidates and workers to be honoured Congratulating candidates who won the election, the SP chief said the party would felicitate all victorious Legislative Council members. He also said that, if possible, he would personally visit their constituencies and honour them. Akhilesh asked the winning candidates to prepare a list of workers, office-bearers and well-wishers who supported them in the election. The party will also honour all such people.
BJP-SP contest in MLC elections Voting for 11 seats of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council was held on October 23 and counting took place on October 28. In the initial results, contests between the BJP and the SP on several seats remained a talking point. The SP registered victories in the Varanasi and Agra teachers’ constituencies. At the same time, Akhilesh also alleged irregularities in the counting over the defeat of SP candidate Dr. Sanjayan Tripathi on the Gorakhpur-Faizabad teachers’ seat. These allegations have not been independently verified.
