CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi: To control rising air pollution in Delhi, enforcement against vehicles has been tightened. The ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule is being strictly implemented in the capital from November 1. Under this, vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate will not be given petrol, diesel, CNG or LPG at petrol pumps and fuel stations. The government’s objective is to curb polluting vehicles and encourage vehicle owners to comply with emission standards.

Under the Delhi government’s winter pollution control plan, vehicles will be identified and the status of their PUC certificates checked with the help of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at around 500 fuel stations in the capital. Petrol pump operators and the departments concerned have been instructed to ensure compliance with the rules.

In addition, from November 1 to January 31, 2027, petrol and diesel vehicles registered outside Delhi and below BS-VI standards have also been barred from entering the capital. However, certain essential services, including CNG and electric vehicles, have been given prescribed exemptions.

The administration has appealed to vehicle drivers to check the validity of their PUC certificates and get them renewed in time. There is also a provision for action and fines in case of violation of the rules.

Amid these measures implemented for pollution control, vehicle owners have been advised to keep their vehicle documents in order before leaving home, so that they do not face problems while refuelling or during checks.
